Sunflowers + Forget me nots
in Plants
Hi,
I am new to gardening and was hoping for some advice on an idea I have.
I would like to plant dwarf sunflowers and a lower flower like Chinese Forget-Me-Not in the same narrow trough (Stewart 100cm trough) to get a layered effect.
Is it possible to plant other flowers in the same pot as sunflowers?
Should I grow them both from seed or should I try to find one or the other ready grown?
If I plant them from seed how do I plant them so they will both flower at the same time.I have already purchased Mr. Forthergill's Little Dorrit F1 sunflower seeds which I hope will suit my purpose.
Any advice would be much appreciated
Milena

I can't see why you couldn't mix them, though Chinese for-get-me-nots are a new thing for me; just sowed them for the first time a few weeks ago in pots as I hear they are invasive. They may flower later than Sunflowers though.
What are Chinese forget me nots?

I underplant some standard weeping roses with the usual type of forget-me-nots, Myosotis. Once you have these in your garden though you will always have them! I don't know if the Chinese variety self seed as vigorously. Good luck.
