When to plant out Brassicas
in Fruit & veg
I have tried growing Brassicas twice before and failed miserable both times! This year I have sown in the GH and have only done Sprouts and Broccoli, it is all looking healthy but I'm not sure when to plant them outside?
Any advice please

Opinions differ orchid, but I leave it till mid to late May before putting any out. Some I sow direct outside and let them get on with it, I only fleece if frost is forecast. Just give them a chance to harden off first.
Mine can only get planted out when there's space in the veg patch
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thanks Dave, I should have said I am in the North west, so not as warm as down south
I'll leave them a couple more weeks, they are happy in the GH anyway
Thanks Scroggin, I have it on my list of things to get to buy some netting, I think it was birds that destroyed them last time and we have quite a few resident pigeons and magpies
Is that pipe the bendy stuff? How do you get it to stay up or do you attached it to poles, sorry that makes sound really thick but I'm not very good at making things!!
EDIT.....actually I think I get it, you make like a cloche rather than a square frame so the pipe bends over and you loop it through the net? Is that right?
Fab, thank you
My brassicas have been in for a couple of weeks - with the trademark plastic bottle mini cloches over them, of course!! Am now building frames with insect netting stretched over to prevent pigeon damage and carrot root fly, so should be able to take them off soon!!
