Lemon Tree

I have a lemon tree which stays in the greenhouse over the winter and is due to come out soon. It's dropping a lot of leaves and its leaves are rather yellow. I've watered it occasionally during the  winter and am now feeding it regularly with a fertiliser for citrus trees, so I don't know what else I can do to make it happy! Any ideas?

My lemon tree is also outside now (but will be given some protection this weekend) - last year it got a bad case of scale insect infection. Other advice above is sound so I will not add anything further.

Thank you for your advice and comments. I will certainly give it some new compost.. Pansyface, it hasn't dropped its leaves before, so hopefully having some fresh compost will help it.

Verdun, it seems to like it outside in the summer.

    Hi guys,

I''ve got a greenhouse coming soon (sooo excited!).  A lemon tree sounds like a good idea.  I assume from your posts that you overwinter in the greenhouse and bring out in summer? Cold greenhouse ok?

Ooh good. will look into it.  Love lemon puddings - would be great to make them with home grown lemons!

Can anyone recommend a particular variety and where to get one from? They don't seem to appear in the online fruit nurseries I know.  Also, I assume they are self fertile so I'll just need one (and some bees)?

Supernoodle, lemons take a long time to grow, and yes they are self fertile. Happy you joined in !image
