my lilac tree hass become quite leggy when should and can i cut it back also how do i take cuttings from it

    You can hard prune it to about 18" from the ground but you will lose about three years' worth of flowers.

    Alternatively, cut out 1/3 of the branches to about 12" from the ground every year for the next three years. That way you will rejuvenate the bush in three years but retain some flowers throughout.

    Prune after flowering, and prune to the ground. Next year you will have masses of new growth and flowers.
