Pond plants for sink wildlife pond
I need some inspiration for plants to put in my sink pond. I need oxygenators that don't grow very long ( sink is about 18 inches deep ), something to plant in pots and something that floats on the surface. I want to use native species plants. I looked online and there is Sooo much information out there it becomes confusing. Any suggestions please?

For my small pond I added a fringed water lily ( lovely yellow flower, looks very much like a lily but it's leaves are smaller) you site it at the bottom and it is best grown in a pot in a small area of water. Mine is only 30cm deep so I'm being careful not to have too much in there.
I also put in some star wort and water crow foot. ( needs thinning out from time to find but is manageable in a small pond) As far as I know these are native plants.
For the marginal plants, I put in a ragged robin and a sedge. I'm sure someone else will be along soon to give you more ideas
Hi Hartleyhare,
To narrow down your choices you could look at naturescape or puddleplants websites where the plants are divided into depths/ zones.
Puddleplants marks the plants with a N for native too which is helpful.
Of course you can get the plants elsewhere though
The sink is now in place and is ready to be filled with half rainwater and half tap water and then planted. I've been reading the threads on here relating to ponds and plants. My question is this ...... will the marginal plants need to be planted in pots as in my raised pond or will they grow in the sand/gravel that will be spread on the bottom of the sink? I found that the oxygenators grow well in this mix in the raised pond but haven't tried marginal plants.
