Ants

berlorberlor Posts: 2

We have lots of ants under our lawn.  There are lots of small piles of earth everywhere.  I have put talcum powder on each pile as that worked in the kitchen.  Is there a better way to get rid of them completely?  Our neighbour has just had a new lawn - will that have affected ours?

  • A couple of years ago I used ant nematodes to get rid of ant nests in the lawn and they were very effective - but then I realised that with no ants in the lawn the green woodpecker didn't come any more so now I just put up with the ants!

I would t worry myself  but if you do ,My mother would dig up the ants eggs and feed the fish and pour boiling water on the nest ,quick no chemicals ,but really unless they are causing a real problem leave them be.

Thanks, everyone. That's given us something to think about.

Hi, I don't mind the ants on the lawn but not happy about them swarming over the patio slabs, is there anything I can put around the slabs to stop them coming off the lawn, ive been told that letting the grass grow a little longer can help as they don't like the moisture...is this true, also coffee or bicarbonate of soda?? Suggestions please ive just moved into the property and trying to make the garden nice to use. Lynn
