cordon soft fruits.

Morning,

Has anyone grown cordon soft fruit i.e. red,white or blackcurents? I've got all 3 growing as a bush but wouold like to experiment growing these as cordons. Many thanks.

    I've never heard of soft fruit cordons. Would be interested to know too.

    I've had red & black currants for 20 yrs + but never heard of cordon for them. I I can't see how that would work as the bushes don't have a main central stem to train from so that would mean excessive pruning which in turn would mean a loss of fruit: unless someone knows differently!

    BTW. Welcome back BL - I didn't know you'd been away as I've only just come back to the forum since my knee op - well that's my excuse!

    I agree wtih John, I wouldn't see the point. Sounds like a lot of work for little return.

    Yes, all going well and now able to do a lot of walking as well as doing the gardening.JH
