Convolvulus Star of Yalta.

In previous years I have been so taken with this variety, which provides us with daytime flowers rather than the more usual early morning types. This spring I soaked the seeds as I always have done, sowed them in multi purpose compost, kept them in warm kitchen, germination fine, but within three days or so  they give up and die. I am mystified.

Whose Multi purpose compost are you using?

Maybe there is something in it that is killing the seedlings? Is it fine with other seedlings?

  • Ive had less success with mine this year also. My standard blues are going great, but the yalta variety have been much slower to germinate, to grow and to climb. They are catching up now, but ive lost more than a few in the process.

Multi purpose compost was Evergreen, fidgetbones. Still a mystery to me. Thank you both.
