Weed

Can anyone help me identify this weed. Have been using a strong brand weed killer, but its like playing hide and seek with this weed. As soon as one is killed another one appears.

I think that's coltsfoot, Tussilago farfara

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Oh is it?

Mine hasn't grown its leaves yet.

Last year I left my coltsfoot as it was in the fenceline but this year it turned up in the middle of a border.

I quite like the flowers, but I never noticed the leaves...

    Wearside, England.
  • Thank you. Just looked it seems to be a herb rather than a weed, but in my garden i treat it like a weed. I know any part of the roots broken off will form a new plant. Guess it will be a long battle. Thank you for your help.

  • Yes it is Coltsfoot, Tussilago farfara one of our native wildflowers. The yellow flowers a little like small dandelions appear in early spring before the leaves. Being an early flower it provides an early nectar source for bees. It is also a medicinal herb (consult a Medicinal Herbalist).
