asparagus pea

Hi as anybody planted asparagus pea or got any tips on growing also any tips on using them in recipes many thanks

    Asparagus peas - don't plant them around a wigwam expecting them to scramble up like normal peas - they don't. Also don't be tempted to eat one raw off the plant. They are vile.  These are the 2 mistakes I made when I tried to grow them a couple of years ago. 

    I have to say, they have very pretty flowers, but not much other appeal for me other than the novelty.

    Yes you are meant to cook them. I thought they might be nice straight from the plant like mangetout, but they are really not. Like others said on the other thread, I wouldn't bother with them again.
