If it is Japanese Anemone, the flower stalks should be pushing up through the foliage now. - usually pink flower with yellow centre.

Flowering currant? Is it herbaceous, or a shrub?

  • One of mine has similar leaves- does the plant look like this?

If it is Japanese Anemone my better half calls it Japanese enemy plant. Mine is one of the tall pink ones and it's a real runner. The underground stems seem to run a fair distance and are almost impossible to get out. I do like it but can't ignore it or it will take over.
