sweet peas and sunflowers
in Plants
I have grown both sunflowers and sweet peas qhich are both growing well in pots in my greenhouse. I think though that they will soon have outgrown their pots. when is it safe to plant them out? I live in the midlands, and plan to plant thrm in the flower area of my relatively exposed allotment. thank you for your advice in anticipation

Sweet peas are hardy - mine have been planted out for ages - if yours are still inside they'll need hardening off then get them planted outside as soon as possible. Lots of info here http://www.gardenersworld.com/forum/the-potting-shed/growing-sweet-peas/6143.html
Sunflowers are not as hardy and need to be inside overnight until you're sure there'll be no more hard frosts - but I'd be putting them outside in a sheltered spot in the daytime now to start hardening them off.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
i planted both mine directly outside, with plastic bottle cloches, and both the sunflowers and sweet pea are happily growing away!
Ditto what's already been said,I've had sweet peas outside for a couple of weeks now.My sunflowers are currently hardening off outside during the day.The hardening off period is very important, gives the plants time to adjust and toughen up.
