its the first season for growing dahlias myself this year,im stuck between putting my tubers down in pots or in the borders.do they spread at all,or arethey just single flowered?im planting them this weekend in the shed.
Well, I think, they do not spread, but we should take cuttings to increase stock. As to deciding between pots or boarders, I might leave that one for wiser heads. I potted up My dahlias a couple of weeks ago and they are only just showing some growth

They do not spread in the normal sense but they do grow big so need space-the large varieties are not suitable for pot culture-and should be planted in the garden.
Do you mean you are starting them off in the shed?
I wouldn't be too worried about getting them in the ground yet mine are still in their pots I had to bring them indoors because it was too cold in the greenhouse don't have heating in there. They are only just starting to show some life. I live in Yorkshire and I'm waiting for warmer dryer weather, I get the feeling i could be waiting for a while.
