Hi clivealive, the eggs were on the upper side of the leaf, along the central crease. Snakes head fritillary's.

  • We most be more observant and nail these little swines the more we squash them then they cannot breed(hope so)'I too have tree lilies and want too see them grow instead of been munched. The new motto is be observant lily growers lol.image

Have killed 10 or so in the last 2 weeks and I only have one small pot with four lilies in it. I wondered what was eating them last year and now I have found the culprits. I had heard of lily beetles but didn't realise they were bright red. I am going to try the olive oil and washing up liquid spray. Glad I found this forum. Thanks all image

Only saw one today and the flower bud is forming on the biggest plant.

  • I STILL don't have any beetles! I had them on previous years but not a single one yet. My dozen lily pots and 1/2 dozen bedding lilies are all growing well and completely hole free.

    I'm amazed, and very pleased.image

I'm just scunnered with the little blighters.  My lilies had beautiful buds and now have dried up empty pouches.  I've not actually seen that before - normally the leaves go first.
