Talkback: How to take hardwood cuttings

I lost my fig tree but my neighbour says I can take a cutting from theirs , can I do it now as the house will soon be in another persons ownership and if so can I do it now

    Hardwood cuttings root well in a bucket of water. Just make sure the water doesn't freeze.Then plant out in the spring.

    Can you take hard wood cuttings from any thing or is it only a select few that this will work with

    Lash go to RHS fig cuttigs ,i took 10 last year ,some into water, some into J.Innes no 3 with 20%extra grit all are now 6 to 8 inches high healthy and just dropping there leaves for winter in the unheated greenhouse ,they will spend there first year in containers, they love nettle and comfry tea and seaweed also works well, this will get the tree growing good strong roots ,stems and leaves, second year in spring change to high Potash feed to encourage fruit and into pig pits and Bobs your wosit
