plants to put in guttering

I am thinking of putting some guttering up on a large fence in my garden as it is very plain . dose any one have any idea of plants I could put in to the guttering . I would like some think with lots of colour to make it stand out . many thanks

    I don't think that guttering would work - it wouldn't hold enough compost for plants' roots, and being shallow would dry out quickly.

    What about some wall/fence mounted baskets - you can get some very nice ones in wrought iron which you line with a special liner, or I had some lovely ones made from woven willow - they fixed on the fence and I grew strawberries in them - but you could grow all sorts of pretty things.

    I saw someone put salad and strawberries in their guttering on a wall which did look very pretty (I'm more a vegetable than flower person). But I imagine it would dry out really quickly which would be a pain in the rump unless you put in an irrigation system.
