When did you plant them? It sounds to me as if they've bolted due to a check in their growth - possibly because they dried out - that's the most common reason.
I'd sow some more, direct into the garden - it's the perfect time to do it and hopefully there's less chance of them drying out.
Just net them against pigeons and put some beer traps down for the slugs.

You're not alone Steven, the same happened to me too last year, either eaten or bolted and all my lettuce bolted. This year I am having a bit more success so far (touch wood) but have used loads of water already....thank goodness for rain now to top up the water butt

Do you mean that it looks like this with little yellow flowers opening from the purple?
If so, pick it and eat it. That's your crop

No it's purple its still green with yellow flowers
And they are no were near that size

So do u think they are goners or if I nip off the flowers will I still get broccoli thanks for your help as I am new to this game
