Pot up seedlings

I am new to this as I normally buy plants but thought I would give it a try this year as it would be cheaper . I was wondering how Long after gemination do you pot the seedlings up to pots of there own ? Do you have to wait for there first lot of proper leaves to come through ? Thank you

Yes, sounds like you've got the right idea
And when potting up handle the seedlings by the leaves, not the stalks
