Grass seed

I have sown some grass seed on a prepared area 3 or 4 weeks ago. I have watered it daily, and have used a full sun seed, as it does get full sun by the afternoon. I have raked it over so that it at least tries to bed in, but the growth just isn't happening.I do have rather alot on show, so wasn't sure if I needed to cover it more with some soil? If after 3 weeks do I assume it isn't going to grow?

It's probably been a little chilly - grass seed likes warm soil - hopefully the ground will warm up soon and your grass will germinate image

Oh good. I just wasn't sure how much seed needs to be exposed to the light as well, and whether I need to cover it a little more with some soil, so that it germinates better? The seed is netted, so not chance of birds getting it. Thankyou

I think it'll be fine as soon as it warms up.  I sowed some grass seed over bare patches on the lawn last September - as the ground was so warm after the summer it germinated within a few days!  It always takes longer in the spring image

    Keep us informed!

  • I sowed some 3 weeks ago as well, mines not very thick I assume it will thicken as it grows?
