Flowering cherry in a pot

Hi. I just need a little advice please!?! I have recently potted a young flowering cherry in a large pot but even though I put done garden waste right at the bottom the pot is mainly compost out of a bag. I put a banana under the tree when potting for the potassium and have topped with bark. Do I need to repot and add more garden soil or will the tree be ok? I want to keep in a pot as I'm hoping to move in a year or so do want to take the tree to new house. Any advice would be great please Rgds Justine

So long as it doesn't go short of water in dry spells I think it'll be fine till you move Justine. I've got two apple trees in pots and they have nothing special in them. I'm hoping to get them planted out later this year and they'll have been in their pots for at least a year by then. Usual practice with plants in pots long term is to remove a few inches of soil from the top each spring and replace it with fresh compost so you could do that next spring. If you add a little sprinkle of blood, fish and bone (or similar feed) at the same time that should keep it happy for a while.  image
