Garden compost

angie4angie4 Posts: 44

I'm searching for the holy grail - a garden compost that's reliable and reasonably priced. The one I currently use, by Westland, doesn't give good results and a green algae-like crust tends to develop on the surface of pots. Can anyone recommend a decent multi-purpose compost?

I like the ones with added John Innes, and top dress pots with potting grit - keeps the moisture in, and stops the algae crustimage

I would go with John but I would also make your own and add the grit better and cheaper in the long run levintons is pretty good as well

  • I use John Innes but I do like to use Multi Purpose by Clover for seasonal bedding displays.
