Growing fruit trees near a garage

I have just bought two trees (a conference pair on Quince A and a victoria plum) I want to plant them near to my garage, which has a breeze block wall and foundations. Is there any danger of root damage from these trees? How far away would people recommend planting them?

Quince take a lot of room and like a wet area and a garage would not be the best place (I have a quince). you could grow them next to the garage but I think you would find problems with roots and leaves falling on the guttering etc.

Thanks, the leaves aren't a problem, as there's a massive Alder only two feet from the garage which scatters leaves all over! I wasn't sure if I could keep the tree small via pruning and control the roots.. If not I may try and stick the pear into a large pot!
