Ooh good point busy bee.  Thermals at the ready!  Just typical - I spent most of the weekend planting out only to come in and watch countryfile and the dreaded frost forecast!

Well I just looked and they are already revising the lowest temps upwards here.  I've no doubt it will get colder, but I'm not convinced it will frost here, and I'm not going to panic yet.  Just keep checking I guess.

I agree. It was glorious here today.  The birds are still chirping away now. Only just dark too.

It was lovely Tootles, wasn't it!  I was pleased to see some blackbirds and thrushes taking me up on the offer of some worms when I returned to my digging patch after a cuppa!  Lots of singing.  Heard an unusual one today, but think it was just a starling.  Usually you only hear starlings arguing and shouting at each other, but this one was alone.  And my bees are in and out enjoying a rape field at the moment.  There was quite a queue to get back in the hive, like when all the planes are circling the airport waiting for their turn to land image.

Nothing quite like the sound of happy and busy birds. Good for the soul to hear them I reckon.

Ooh yes, I've seen lots of bees too. All different kinds. They must love the glorious yellow fields.  The scent is just gorgeous.  Hope it means that you get extra lovely honey!

We can hope...!  last year the bees scarcely made enough for themselves, let alone us!!

  • This might seem a daft question, however I've never grown veg before.  Is it too late to plant potatoes now? I have some chitted Maris pipers bought from the garden centre at the weekend. grateful for any advice.

No it's not to late to plant spuds, I've still to plant out the last of my 2nd earlies and main crop.
