I saw it and didnt like it. You need to get the soil so wet that is driping, then, if they get a bit dry i can see the sides of the plug crumbling away, you cant beat a good old module or little flower pots. You will probably not ever see the end results with montys gadget, like when he empties s huge water can full of water on tiny seedlings. When he is ready for planting out he says, I bought these and out they go as big plants, only will you see his sweet peas and some veg.
Dont get me wrong,i love monty.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Hi , Jennie, I saw it too and likes the look at it . I've just bought one from www.blackberrylane . It cost £14.80 - I'll let you know how I get on with it.
I had a plastic one a long time ago, I only used it for one season. Its like making mud pies, the compost mix has to be really sloppy. Moving individual blocks afterwards was a pain, and keeping all the sides moist wasn't easy either.
Fill toilet roll tubes with the compost, and stand them in water from time to time. The cardboard holds everything together and by keeping only the bottom of the compost wet, it makes the seedling go down for water.
