I can not argue with you David and should of explained better the trial and error suits me at the moment and I do realise this would not suit others I suppose thats the amateur still showing in me I have a lot to learn but I will get there hope I have not offended anyone.
I think this may be a man/lady divide, but with no sexism intended (just to cover myself!) you see myself and others ladies on here, we like to fuss, so normally annuals are great Personally I stay way for growing perennials from seed and buy them, I don't have the patience to wait for plants to grown and flower, I want to see results even if it does mean starting all over again the next year...it just means more nurturing which is good
On that point,mi don't think my perennial papavers are going to flower Not a happy bunny, lots of leaves and no flower 'stalks' at all!!!!
Ok, so can I start perennials off in autumn for some summer colour? That was my problem this year with the new borders as I wanted some colour, but if I can plan long term it may be the better option. Remember you get more daylight than me and warmer weather too
Hi Mike, hope you're ok.....not too much of that tipple I hope (see your thread). I have PM'd you by the way x Only worry about my annual/perennial hardening off issues if you feel up to it but wait until after Saturday, that's fine x
Hi guys great thread. I have had my morning glory seedlings potted up and sitting in the cold frame for two weeks now and it hasn't grown a bit, should I bring it in or plant some more and keep them inside?
Hi Bal , they're not growing 'cos it's been a bit cooler than they like outside, but as long as their leaves aren't going white they'll be ok. Think we're in for some better temperatures - I'll be sowing mine soon

Nah! Don't think any of us are that fragile.

Thanks Dave. I'll keep the lid on the cold frame and my fingers crossed.
