Hi Everybody I am as I call it still 'at war' with the Horsetail as I said earlier I bought some Verdone weedkiller which I mix to double the suggested strength I then pull the stem of the horsetail trying to do it so there is a bit of hollow stem at the top I then spry the weedkiller into it there are a lot of stems that have gone brown they don't grow back providing none of the feather bits are left on the stem. It is killing the stems I have sprayed but as there is so much of it other stems appear but there are not as many as there used to be. In the front garden where they where under the weed supressant fabric I pulled and sprayed them and I have only seen and treated 5 thin stems and none where I removed the weed supressant and turfed a lawn.
Every time I see one it's gloves on and spray bottle I may not win but neither will the Horsetail.
We have it on our Allotments and its everywhere. Every year we dig out as much as we can but it comes back. We have been doing this for eleven years so we just keep at it. On a windy day it blows seeds all over our plots but we just deal with it the best we can.

It is nearly as bad as brasmble, but without the prickles, but it is a long process getting rid of the stuff
