Concrete Belfast sinks!

Hi there,

In our new house we have acquired 3 belfast sinks as planters, which is great, but they are covered in concrete, which is not to our taste, so wish to return them to the original white earthenware.

I'm in the process of bashing the concrete off which is working, although am ending up with a few chips in the sinks in the process - but can anyone suggest a way to get the final bits of concrete/dirt off the sinks without damaging them further? No amount of bleach or products seems to be working to date...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Hannah

No chemicals will remove cement or concrete - you need a lump hammer and a cold chisel and some eye protection. image

  • Thanks all. only small amount of concrete is left on now, so I will try yoghurt and soil suggestion I think. I've hammered most of it off, just the final dusty concrete layer left on now.

Yoghurt and soil will not restore them to their original shiney white condition.
