Can't think of any X plants but what is Xanthan gum made from?

It's a bacterium - don't think that counts does it?

Wow, what an amazing and clever young man, I'm so impressed and obviously impressed at you GJ as his mum because you have done a fab job image

I need to get cleaning done, but will come back with my limited knowledge later, although I suspect I am not as clever as your son image

Yeah, echo that. Really impressed by the young man.  I tried to get my 2 yr old into gardening last year. He strangled the pansies I was potting up, then went back to digging in mud.

Have never got my impatient son into gardening - remember his disinterest at age 4, and thinking he was too young, but really, he just has no belief in deferred gratification and ought to live in a flat when he grows up.  Foster son (6) has some interest but trails off after 10 to 15 minutes, but foster daughter (9) has patience, interest, persistence and an affinity with plants - was watching the programme about Great Dixter on iplayer with me last night (I was watching for the second time!!)  It is so good that she is developing these skills as she really struggles academically, unlike the boys - everyone is good at something!

My youngest, aged almost 13, showed an interest at about 8, bought him his own little garden tools but the novelty wore off when he discovered football. He still likes to look at what I'm doing and occasionally helps me but I must admit to being a tad disappointed as I thought he would end up at the local horticulture college and end up doing some sort of gardening work, it seems that isn't to be now image

Xanthan Gum; according to my packet, is made from...'Xanthan Gum, produce of more than one country.' So it is something that grows, but think nut is right it is a bacterium, but hey! that growsimage

Just looked it up - it's a type of sugar made from corn by bacteria ie fermentation.  My mum is corn intolerant, and it's on her list of additives to avoid - now I know why.
