I have had my buddleia for over 20 years. I cut it back earlier in the year and noticed it had a fungi growing on it.
Will it harm the plant?
Should i remove it?
Any help will be welcome

I don't know the fungus but generally, they grow on dead or dying wood. It probably won't harm your plant, but may be an indicator that it has a problem.
It might be worth scraping back the soil around the fungi and seeing what's going on with the plant.
The last year or so the plant has been dying on one side (the side the fungus is on) the rest of the stump is fine.
It is growing right out of the wood, there is no soil around the fungi
.

In that case, I'm afraid that the plant may be on the way out, sadly.
Why not take some cuttings? The propagate fairly easily, details here:

That looks like the fungus known as Jew's Ear. It expands and contracts in response to the amount of rain we have. I believe it is edible.
Fungus, like that, on a plant usually means it is on its way out.
Well you learn something new every day.
When the world's cities collapse and capitalism comes to an end. This little fungus is definitley one to look out for - just googled more info, many uses to be had.
