wintersong.. hers is my woodland garden.. only started it end last year then off with borken should so just getting back onto it.. will look much better next year when everything has got etablished better.. jsut got to get the bark for paths round and removed the grass..or should i say moss.. as that is all that grows there..
@gardeningfantic, Wow you've been busy! I did a few annuals last year to fill gaps but this year I was hoping to leave gaps for excuses to buy more plants
I love your mini woodland! I especially love ferns for their vibrant colour, the shape of their crosiers in spring and the lush look they create in the summer with autumn shades to boot! I have four in my garden so far and hope to increase their number whenever possible (my local B&Q doesn't stock a huge range)
It's been extremely wet here again but warmer on the plus side! I took a turn around the garden this morning with some surprise, there seems to have been a bit of a boost to some plants with everything starting to lush up more!
@wintersong.. yeah i love ferns..mum got me some at morrisons.. going for £1 each.. so have got them ready to go in.. at the moment i have to clear the small violets as seen on right side of pic under fern.. they have spread like wildfire this year.. love the little flowers and their scent is amazing.
i am really wanting a tree fern.. but told they do not like wind..so my garden is ouot the window until the tress and hedges have grown up some more..
yes everything is looking lush and green.. but i need the sun for things to start flowering and opening up..i have one tall iris which as been 2 years in the waiting for the flower.. and it has benin bud for 3 weeks now.. and just starting to pop out.. it is suposed to be peach/apricot and purple colour.. has a huge thick stem.. wil put picture on when it does open.
@pottie-pam-the chicks are now under cover-what Kate likes to call the penthouse suite and living the high-life -I will be installing a swimmining pool for them at some point.
Have completed most of my tasks, grass cut, rescue petunias potted up,need to check hanging baskets, supervise the end packing process and worry about waking up on time.
Today the weather isn't nearly as beautiful as yesterday's. Lots of rain and apparently we're in for some thunderstorms with hail and gusty winds. Grrrrrr.
So lots of people will be travelling this weekend. I hope you'll all arrive safely at your destinations and of course, have a lovely wedding / holiday / weekend. KG, I hope you can get some decent sleep; when me and OH travelled to New Zealand we slept for 20 hours after our arrival and after that everything was fine, no more jetlag.
So Geoff, all set then. Will Margret be doing her duty again? Hopefully Cody will like his stay at the kennels. Oh, and look out for those notorious pick-pockets.
@gardeningfantic Wow! That's a lot of stuff to go in! Very nice.
Hurling it down again here to the point of the garden re-flooding. It was just getting dried out! Went out anyway last night and put in a couple of aquilegias that the OH picked up at the plant nursery. My neighbours must think I'm insane...
FC-Margaret is coming round this afternoon to receive final instructions-pick-pocket advice noticed-an acquaintance who has a flat in Alicante had her purse taken recently
Why don't they have a green smiley? I'm green with envy after looking at that forecast. So you'll come back to be The Bronze Adonis once again? Hopefully Margaret will recognize you and mrs Geoff. Have a safe journey and enjoy the warmth and sun.
