watering systems for holiday periods

  • There are some great ideas in here and I have put bits and pieces of the info together to form my master plan !!!!

The plan being - at the weekend I purchased grow bag trays, which I have not seen before,  I got these from  a discount store  (poundstretcher) don't know how wide spread their shops are  but they are selling these trays for a couple of pounds each. They measure  40”x  16”

So, I will do a trial run using these trays lined with capillary matting and placing water filled upturned plastic juice & milk cartons with nail holes in their plastic caps. Placing the various pots on top of these

I will see how moist this keeps the soil  in the pots

Then after the hols I can use trays for their original intentions image

Jimbolena did you purchase the irrigation black tubes?

Hi, you can buy the sets anywhere, the factory shop, ebay, homebase.

Drip irrigation kits -- the full title.

  • Hi,

I found a very interesting project on Indiegogo - a device that would come very handy for us who like to go away for holidays. It is great because the device is simple to use monitors soil moisture and it waters the plant when is needed. You only need a water tank.

If you are interested, contribute to the campaign so we will be able to get this useful device.
