One trick with cosmos is not to sow the seed too soon. They are very quick out of the traps, germinating and growing fast. Start them "late" and let them catch up. You can then plant them out safely without the risk of them being leggy. Pinch out as well.
Now would be fine to start them. I sowed mine last week.
They were very quick Woodgreen, I only sowed them on 12/4, it seems that maybe I should have left them in the GH, never mind, lesson learnt and noted for next year
I let mine get a bit bigger, say 4 to 6 inches and about 3 sets of leaves. I find they do well pinched or not So don't worry. No gardening for me today as it is pouring down here in the NE.

Quick question, I have repotted gem now and in the GH, buried some of the stem and they look a lot better now and very happy this morning
When do I pinch them out? After the first set of true leaves?
Thanks.
