What's eating my peas?

BluebaronBluebaron Posts: 226
I planted some peas directly into the ground. I have seen them coming up but now I have found all the tips lying on the soil. At first I thought it may be birds so I have covered then but it is still happening. Could it be slugs? I would thought they would eat the whole thing not leave the tips? Any thoughts?

Mice or voles, they will eat the seed and leave the growing tip.

quick dip of  the peas, beans in paraffin before planting an old allotment trick and it works, the mice might dig up a couple but will then leave them.image

I do that with all my beans and sweet corn. The greenhouse has mousetraps in place.

I started some on the windowsill, then planted out and covered in netting - they are about 15cm high, and still something has been eating parts of the leaves.  They are still alive though - am presuming it is snails?
