trying to identify this shrub, have tried with two pictures, hope it helps

  • Thanks lizzie, I have googled it & it maybe a callicarpi, i am just finding identification hard when there are no leaves on the shrub & a bud etc image

     This is a picture of the leaf.....its the best I can do so if anyone can identify it I would really appreciate it, firstly it is 100% not a callicarpa or a spirea.....

    ..the shape of the bush suggests a Deutzia to me..... I don't think it's a Philadelphus or Kolkwitzia... this last one tends to have peeling bark....   maybe Deutzia scabra...

    ..but it's hard to tell at this stage...

    If that's what you've got Paul I suggest you take some cuttings - we'll all want one image

    Mine too jatnik, but when Paul first posted this he said it wasn't.

    I still have it at the top of my list

  • The chap who's shrub it is mentioned orange flowers so I could end up eating my words jatnit & nutcutlet!!! I will wait until it flowers & then we will know image

    He didn't refer to it as 'mock orange'  did he?image
