  • You know I never actually thought about garlic, may give it a think!

Just been and added all the Multi Purpose I had which was about 1 and 2/3 of a bag, doesn't seem to have made that much difference lol Dug it over as well as I could.
Do you think I need to add some more or will this amount in the bed be enough?

Looks full up enough to me. A wee bit below the top is good as helps with a bit if protection from any wind and also watering - if it's too full it'll slop all over the top. If you do decide to do carrots I'd suggest garlic or onions as a great accompaniment as the smell confuses the naughty carrot fly. A few radishes and quick and v east too. Good luck! Post us some more pictures when its up n running!

  • Brilliant, my garden does catch the wind quite a lot so it's a good job I didn't fill it all the way up!

I shall of course share photo's when it's got going, just need to start sowing but I'm nervous about doing the first move haha

  • I found some compressed Coir which makes 10 litres of compost and has the added ability to break down and help with soil condition. I also use it for seeds and young plants. It costs 99p at your local £ shop. That's where I got my blueberry, rhubarb and lots of other plants. They do blood fish and bone, containers, netting and all sorts of useful stuff. The Coir also helps with water retention.
