You could report the bindweed to environmental health, they'll maybe help get rid of it. We have a friend, trying to sell his house, who's buyer has been refused a mortgage because of the bindweed in the open ground at the end of his garden! He's reported to environmental health  and they're coming out next week. They're going to have a field day as there are quite a few areas affected with it.

Are we talking the big white Hedge Bindweed? http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/profile.aspx?pid=241

or the little pink/pink & white bindweed Field Bindweed? http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/species/field-bindweed

  • PLP - are you sure it was bindweed? The only plant that I know of that would affect insurance is Japanese knot weed.Convolulus is not a serious threat to foundations whereas knotweed can be!
