You'r telling me! I just upended my dalek bin to find the bottom 2 ft infested with the box hedge roots which is behind it. I did know that it's not a good idea to put bins next to hedges, but we don't have much option as we have hedges all round, and as our garden slopes up from the house, there's not much chance of hiding them either.
My query is is it better to leave the compost bin sitting on the soil next to the hedge or do the hedge roots suck out all the nutrient so resulting compost is not much good anyway? Can I put it in paving slabs instead or won't the worms get in?

Any advice gratefully received.
