It looks wonderful Sprig - what a fabulous setting. Lovely to see it all start to come together - don't think i've ever seen so many plants in pots outside a TV garden makeover show - thats some collecting you did.
keep the pics coming - its lovely to see projects unfold.
So, I have planted up another section of the garden today and I thought I would show you. It is a circular island bed in the centre of the garden, towards the far end. It has some lavender around the outside and a few random bulbs in the middle. It did have a huge, out of control heather in the middle when we moved here but we dug that out last year.
I decided to put roses in the middle and have them all one colour so that the bed has a big impact when you look at it from the house. The rose I chose is 'Janet', which is a lovely pinky/orange colour which I thought would go well with the lavender.
It is a David Austin rose and typically was out of stock with them but I found that Pocock's roses had some so ordered from there. I have to say I was very pleased with the company. You could choose your delivery day and they arrived today, as promised, and as you can see they are very nice looking healthy plants. Each came in its own upright box and there was no damage at all.
So I laid them out.
Planted them up and gave them a good water.
I am going to take those bulbs out of the bed, or at least move them around and do something a bit smarter for next spring. What do you all think about the lavender? I think it might be a bit beyond help. I cut it back as hard as I dared last year and thought I would see how it looks this summer. There are some gaps I need to fill anyway but I was trying to avoid having to dig it all up and start again. I wonder if I might be better off doing that anyway.
I am so looking forward to the roses growing. Hopefully the bed will look great (and the grass should look better by the summer too!). I have never had roses before so it will be a real treat.
It all looks lovely Sprig and so well planned, you're obviously enjoying yourself as well. What else is as rewarding as the things we create and love. Hope you get time to sit and relax in your garden as well as all the work you put in.
Wow what a beautiful garden. And very big, and hope you don't mind me saying but a beautiful big house too. Lovely pics, look forward to the next ones as you progress.
The house is not all ours Star Gaze lily. It has been split in to 4 flats and we have half of the downstairs. Still great proportions in a lovely setting though.
Hope the people in the flat above yours enjoy all the effort you are making to create a beautiful view for them. I agree that the colour of those roses will go very well with the lavender. We look forward to seeing how the finished product looks in the summer!
I admire your foresight and the hard graft to get it done. It is so hard to visualise what you want in a garden. Yours is beautiful - can I have the plans??

It certainly doesn't look as though you've no idea about gardening! It's looking great.

Agree with Busy, hope they all appreciate your hard work. Look forward to more pics.
