New Camellia - Jupiter
Ok, this is where I get slightly frustrated.

The RHS are saying that the Camellia Jupiter will be ok in an east facing situation, but recommends that Camellias are protected from early morning sun. Not sure what happens elsewhere in the UK but on the Isle of Man, the sun rises in the east!
Am I missing something here? One of my gardening neighbours has a beautiful camellia - and guess what? It's east facing!
Got all the right compost etc sorted so now it's just a case of - where do I put it?

Basically anywhere where the flowers are not hit by the sun when there is frost on them.
So if there was a larger shrub or a hedge on the eastward side, between the camellia and the rays of the morning sun, it would be ok ..... but otherwise don't put it in an east facing position.
My parents had a fabulous camellia, which bloomed it's socks off every year, it was on the north side of the house in front of the kitchen window - cheered Pa up when he did the washing up
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Ok, thanks. Looks like east facing is a no then. But can you understand my frustration? I've found a nice west facing spot which is shielded from the hot afternoon sun by a wall, which should also give it some shelter from strong winds.
