Does anyone know the best time to prune a Bougainvillea growing outside in southern Spain?

Lulu, does it ever stop flowering? With most plants, one prunes after the the flowering. I assume that it does have a dormant period, though I don't think it does in places like Barbados.
Have just looked it up in an American plant encyclopedia and all it says is that if damaged by frost, cut back hard and it will respond well.
Give them a mulch of well rotted manure or leaf mold.
