Shrub for Container
Need a shrub for a wooden half barrel container, height around 2 to 3 ft , will need to be hardy as I live on the north east coast so will probably be open to the elements, have tried other things in it as a focal point ( recommended by garden centre ) but come the winter the north easterly wind put pay to that,any advice appreciated. Cheers

nog, what have you tried in the past?
Blueberry!!!! Great and easy! Ericaceous compost.... Fab white flowers in early summer fruit later on and then amazing autumn colour fab container plant!!!!
Oh and hardy my parents grow in tubs and they are north east (Cleveland hills)
My parents had a garden on the east coast - potentilla fruticosa did very well there

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
No idea whats been tried in the past the missus got them from the garden center.
