compost

I have some compost sieved,and it's like fine soil ,can I use this to sow seeds in .I have been told by a family member that it will be to rich,is that the case or can i go ahead and sow the seeds   thanks jb

    do you mean home made garden compost ? or " shop bought compost? I only use home made compost as a soil conditioner, not as a growing medium. It's unfortunate they're both called " compost".

    it's home made compost from garden and kitchen waste ( not food though) . I have some garden centre sowing compost home made looks better. but thanks for the help will shop bought for seeds and home made for plants
