Talkback: How to sow a lawn from seed
I have an area currently covered in flagstones that I'd like to seed with grass. In the guide here it says 'Prepare the ground thoroughly prior to seeding', but does not explain how best to do this from scratch (drainage etc, soil type). Being a complete novice, I'm really not sure where to start prior to seeding.

How new is 'new' larry? Think you need to give it a while before you weed n feed. I wonder why it's so weedy though? Did you use an unsuitable type of seed or is the lawn in the wrong site perhaps?

Verdun's given a comprehensive answer above philip. It's a good time to do this as the ground is warming up. Remember to water if you have long dry spells after sowing
