Kerria Japonica
I am looking for advice on how to kill a Kerria Japonica? We moved into our property last year and there is a large Kerria Japonica in the garden that had been left to go wild and totally out of control - so much so that the roots appear all over the garden, with new shots popping up in the middle of the lawn and other bushes/plants. What can I use to kill this plant?

Hi you should be able to dig out the new shoots that are popping up. I would use secateurs and loppers to get rid of the rest and then dig out.
I need something that will also kill the root also as part of the Kerria has gown under a wall and I can't get to all the root to remove it.
I've got 2 kinds of Kerria in my garden and the one that produces the round pom pom flowers seems to be the one that spreads, the other one that has single petals behaves itself.
Yes, its the one with the round pom pom flowers - it is everywhere! I don't want to plant anything else until I have got rid of it!
Sue did you manage to get rid of it? We have moved into a property with the same problem and tried starting to dig it up yesterday but found the roots were deep. Also some of the roots are right next to the fence and other plants such as a quince which has woven round this.
