Peas in the Gutter
in Fruit & veg
I've read that one good way to start off your pea crop is to sow them in some guttering in the greenhouse, then put the rooted run into the garden. Has anyone tried this? Successfully?

Thanks, might try both options, got to give gutters a go!
I cant see the point either, you have to have them so far apart anyway, you might as well group separate pots together. I grow them in 5" deep paper pots, you can then put the whole lot in the ground with no root disturbance at all.
Maybe I have the wrong guttering but I find the run doesn't slip out like they say and I end up moving the plants one by one. Much easier to use pots in the first place. I like the deep 'roottrainers' for peas and beans.
