Pam, thank you SO, SO MUCH! Plant 2 duly identified image

I'm a bit concerned that the False Aralia is a "small tree that can grow to six feet in height" and that it is supposed to be houseplant, but I planted it in the garden. It seems happy and has new leaves, but I guess I will have to bring it in for the winter.

Bonnie-how tall are the leaves on 3?-the picture is deceiving

Bonnie - it would take a long time to get to the size of a tree! I have only known it as a houseplant but I plant things in the garden - that perhaps I shouldn't- for the summer and then take them in for the winter imageKeep an eye on it and see how it goes image

No. 3 looks like a bit like a houseplant I had which died on me through neglect..  I never knew the name but it was a familiar popular one.  The flower is on a tall stem and is white - like a giant Cuckoo Pint thing but exotic.   The leaves look very similar.

Peace lily? I thought it looked like that.

Yes figrat - that's the one I was thinking of..  Peace Lily - Spathiphyllum wallisii.  The one I had - didn't realise it was a house plant supposed to grow in around 60-85 degrees or something.  I left it outside!!!!  Oops!  I thought the photo of No 3 looked like a younger plant.

    Hi Sotongeoff

Plant 3 is about 10 cms high and the leaves are about 12cms from top of stem to tip of leaf. Incidentally, although the owner of the shop didn't know what the plants were, he assured me they were all outside plants. Apparently he may have been incorrect...image

*sobs*  I think I am more novice than I realised. Thanks to everybody for the information, it's really, really appreciated.

And I've made a note not to buy any plants that aren't labelled in future.  image
