It should be okay to move now. Dig a large enough hole to get all the roots both out and in. Top dress the replanted bush with some well rotted compost, keep well watered, prune lightly. You may loose flowers this year, but it will recover.
i moved 2 hydrangeas from pots to ground last year they both got eaten by slugs then died, how can i avoid this happenig if i get a new one,i put slug pubs down and copper tape too

agree with both Dave and Verdun. Depending on just how " large" it is, you might consider a bit of a cut back.
Just make sure it's well-watered this year while it's roots are getting established.

hmmm they'd never been indoors, they were reasonable size, i'kl try again when i find a spot not earmarked for another rose or clematis!!
Thanks for all your help. The Hydrangea has now been pruned and replanted and thus far appears to be happy. Fingers crossed.
