Would someone be kind enough to identify this beautiful smelling shrub

    I'd reckon winter flowering honeysuckle Paul. Lonicera fragrantissima. 

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

  • Put that in on RHS and your spot on FG image I was pruning some roses when I walked past it, its smells absolutely amazing

    A couple of twigs in a vase perfumes the house gloriously - though not overpoweringly.

    There is also L, purpusii which is very similar (only difference is the number of hairs on the stamen) and the hybrid which is L. Winter Beauty, again very similar. If you want one which is slightly pink then there is  L. Budapest, equally scented though.

    Have to say all of them are a bit boring the rest of the year.
