Flooded daffodils

Our garden has been under water for 2 months. The water has finally receded leaving a very sorry sight .One of the saddest sights is the carpet of blind daffodils.... some didn't even come up , of those that did and sat under nearly 3 ft of water 90% have no flower stems at all.

Should I dig them up now while visible in the grass or might they recover to flower next year ?  Any thoughts and ideas gratefully received

    Hi Jo - many sympathies!

    Where are you?  Somerset?

If they're alive they could recover. I'd leave them alone. We had a long flood last year, weeks til OH dug a drainage channel. Snowdrops died, some narcissi survived, Tete a Tete and Jetfire, and are flowering this year.

    Oh lord, Jo, that's rough.

I'm in contact with the community on the Somerset levels, and they are getting help from a professional team that have experience of flood recovery.  The website is gardenadvice.com.  I think you might find they can give you some really professional advice on the prospects for your plants after 3 weeks of flood.

Generally I'd think daffies would survive - they are tough little blighters.

Good luck, and all the very very best - thinking of you!
