design a garden

Hi I moved to the seaside 4 years ago and I am missing not having a garden.  I have a large car park and want to turn half of it back into a garden.  Any idea are most welcome

  • Hi

It's concrete and North east facing,  we get  strong wind off the sea.  My husband isn't to sure about changing it, I will try an get a photo tomorrow and measure the size

Of course, you could grow some veg and perhaps strawberries too.

You could always have a container garden and grow everything in pots and troughs. Getting concrete up is hard and you don't know what the soil is like underneath. You could use some decking or gravel areas to soften the concrete.

The photo is in Great Dixter last June. Small pots in front and big ones behind. Just to show you how colourful and flowery it can be. I prefer bigger pots, don't dry out so quickly.

Of course, you could grow some veg and perhaps strawberries too.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
